I know they're perilous unless you're tall, but I just can't resist the ankle strap!

An Ode To The Shoe I Can’t Have

My love, my love!

My love, my love!

Shoe, you and I can never be.  We both know it’s true.  You are no longer available in my size, and I am fairly sure that cutting off my toes a la ugly stepsister would be obvious in a sandal. Your four inch heel is deeply impractical, and you cost at least twice as much as I could possibly justify spending on you.  Your fabulousness has a distinct touch of the dominatrix, and the fact that I want you so much probably reflects badly on my subconscious.  You will undoubtedly be out of fashion far sooner than I would be willing to stop wearing you.

You are bad for me, shoe.  And yet, I want you. Together, we could step on the necks of men all over Manhattan and have them thank us for the privilege.  I have never owned a shoe quite like you, and I can’t help but dream of what our life together might be like.

Farewell, my love. Don’t look for me.  I’ll be drowning my sorrows on the shoe floor at Saks.  Perhaps in a whole zip code of shoes I can manage to finally forget you.
