Kai
With a taste for fashion’s finest labels (and a willowy 5’7″ frame that allows her to wear styles that look like pajamas on the rest of us), Kai is Femmeiniste’s resident glamazon.
In addition to her work with this site, Kai is a budding jewelry designer whose creations are inspired marriage of nature and modern art. Her interests run the gamut from jewelry and fashion accessories to high culture (unlike her fellow bloggettes, she regularly makes pilgrimages to museums, Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Center). In her spare time, she enjoys discovering the little known restaurants and bakeries that make New York’s eating scene so vibrant.
Raised in the heartland, Kai is the black sheep in a family of scientists, having left one of the world’s most prestigious institutions of higher learning with a law degree instead of a PhD. After sampling both the glitz of big firm life and the frustrations of public interest law, she left the legal profession behind to embark on new adventures. Having been programmed into science to the point of a BA in biology (nature or nurture?), she still secretly feeds the geek within with an occasional trip to the zoo or issue of Wired, but will disavow all knowledge if asked. If you see someone smack-talking the outdated displays at the American Museum of Natural History, it is definitely not Kai.
