It’s my birthday, and because it’s been an unexpectedly hectic few days leading into today, I don’t have a new post.  So I’m subjecting you to a birthday version of Cravings, Longings and Desires.

My Favorite Cake

The black forest cake you see at the top of this post is, in my humble opinion, the best cake in the entire world.  Possibly the universe.  Dark chocolate, a very, very light frosting (almost like a freshly whipped cream), and just dripping with succlent, ruby red cherries.  I could seriously eat an entire cake.

A Drippy Gold and Diamond Necklace

This triple strand of delicate 14K yellow gold box chain sprinkled with 10 white diamonds glimmers and gleams.  It’s exactly the sort of eyecatching, but understated, piece I’ve been looking for.

A Smart Heart Rate Monitor

The Garmin Forerunner 405CX is more than just a heart rate monitor, it records run time, distance, pace, calories burned and even stores workouts in its memory for easy comparison. There are many more bells and whistles (including the ability to automatically share/transfer workout info with your computer), but – oh, GOD – those numbers!  I’d be able to run all day with those on my wrist.

A Hawaiian Vacation

I have always wanted to go to Hawaii.  I don’t know why I have it built up in my head as the Ultimate Vacation Destination, but I do.  I think it’s phenomenally gorgeous, romantic and just stunning.  Want, want, want to go there for vacation.

This Laila Azhar Dress

Laila Azhar seems to have hired a fit model with my exact proportions this season – everything I’ve tried on has looked like it was made specifically for my body.  But this dress is just stunning.  Despite being a one-shoulder design, the shoulder is spaced far enough from the neck that it would easily accomodate my wide shoulders, while the neckline is high enough to avoid any wardrobe mishaps.  (And believe me, when there’s a wardrobe mishap to be had, I’ll have it.)  Not to mention that stunning shade of blue!
