Refined Looks For Easter

I’ve been running wild with the flowy and the flouncy lately, but really, I love the other side of things just as much — tailored, elegant, ladylike.  Just in time for Easter, the stores are full of body-conscious sheaths and tailored dresses in dainty prints and Easter egg pastels.  I admittedly won’t be going to mass this Sunday, but I’m still feeling the pull of a look that’s a little more refined. You might never wear these dresses to the beach, but they dinner with the parents at the Central Park Boathouse restaurant.  Here are some of my picks for the holiday weekend and spring’s more reserved moments. I don’t promise that these are all completely appropriate for church, but I guarantee they’re perfect for Easter brunch.

One of my design favorites is this inverted-pleat dress from Black Halo, always great for sophisticated dresses (love their Jackie O dress).

For those looking for a little more pop, it’s also available at Neiman Marcus in robin’s egg blue.  Another of my perennial favorites for ladylike dresses is Milly; every season the collections include great dresses that are totally modern while still managing to be appropriate if you need something to wear to a garden party or a graduation.  My Easter favorite is this one, again in a great Easter-egg color:

If pastels don’t suit your coloring (they’re challenging for me, fun though they are to look at), there are still plenty of great options.  I love the color and print on this dress from Tory Burch:

Another great print in colors that remain wearable for the olive-skinned without being too dark for spring and summer is available in a wrap dress from BCBG Max Azria:

Another solid choice from BCBG --
Love the easygoing stripes!

Pick up one of these and a cute pair of flats, and you’re all set.  And hey, if you’re not an Easter person, you can always make an occasion.  Permit me to suggest brunch at Norma’s;)   I’ll be rocking the Shoshanna (LOVE a sleek dress in white), a cute clutch, and the chocolate decadence French toast.
