Curly Confessions
AJ recently confessed to being a straight haired phony, so I suppose it’s time for me to confess to my own follicle folly: my hair has a serious identity crisis.
It really wants to be curly, but the best it can muster is wavy – and not pretty wavy, but frizzy Sarah Jessica Parker wavy. I typically blow dry it straight, but that means I end up with some weird lumps around my face, where the hair is desperately trying to do its own thing. (I call it Jesus Hair, but please note that I’m an atheist – the likeness is purely coincidental.)

My hair has been straightened for years – so I promised myself that I would give DevaConcepts a true try. I’d give it a few days – up to a week. And you know what? I’m thrilled … It only took 24 hours. It doesn’t seem like much to most, but the amount of curl and body I have garnered made even the normally understated Kai (who has known me for FIVE YEARS) shocked when I walked into her abode this afternoon.

Honestly? Yes, it took all of the above. And while my hair typically blows out straight in less than 5 minutes, this took about 12. Two things:
1) good call on straightening. I have never met a curly haired girl who didn’t look better straightened. For the most part. Maybe Morticia Adams could have used a curling iron, but that’s as far as I’ll go. Little Orphan Annie? Weed whacker.

Good call on the Curls! I’ve never met anyone who didn’t look and feel like a million bucks once they learned how to embrace their true hair-type!
Don’t we all want options and versatility? Its time curly girls put down the damaging irons at least some of the time! Curls are beautiful, authentic, and individual. Straight is straight is straight.
